The Hospitality Employment Experience Program is an exciting hospitality tourism industry program offering full time paid real-life-work experience to launch your career. We offer full time paid work experience (8 months), including accommodation, on-site training within a job rotation curriculum and mentor/guide to support you towards your Certificate of Completion.
Eight months paid work experience covering the following four curriculums, two months within each curriculum. Employer determines curriculum order.
Front Office Clerk
This module introduces students to front office lodging operations. Topics include reservations, front desk, guest services and human resource deployment issues specific to front office operations. This module familiarizes students with the principles of front desk operational procedures; customer service principles; and introduces students to the principles of revenue management strategies. Students work with a Property Management Software to become familiar with computerized reservations, arrival and charge posting systems.
Housekeeping Room Attendant
This module provides an Introduction to Housekeeping, Product Overview, Sanitizing, Laundry Management and General Maintenance. This module familiarizes students with guest relations, industry terms, safety in the workplace and cleaning responsibilities.
This module provides an Introduction to the preparation of food within a commercial environment. Topics include basic kitchen management; proper food handling techniques; food preparation; cleaning operations; standard safety in the workplace policies and correct procedures in handling equipment and culinary management.
This module introduces students to the Food & Beverage department. Topics include Teamwork; Professionalism; Standard operational procedures; Service techniques; Food and beverage knowledge; Service recovery; Station and operational maintenance; Payment processing; Workplace health and safety; Point of sale technology and guest relations.
